History
of 3 Castles Brand Tobacco
The original Three Castles was introduced
in 1878 by W.D. & H.O. Wills, a British
tobacco importer and cigarette manufacturer
in Bristol, England.
Originally a pipe tobacco, it's superb
mild flavor (due to its' high moisture
content) made Three Castles a huge success.
In 1884 W.D. & H.O.Wills introduced
Three Castles cigarettes to some mild
resistance. It seemed many preferred hand-rolled
cigarettes to those rolled by a machine.
In 1892 Three Castles cigarettes became
the first cigarettes to be sold in cardboard
packets ( much like today's), previously
cigarette packaging was made out of paper,
which made them easy to crush. Shortly
before WWI W.D. & H.O.Wills merged
with several other British tobacco manufacturers
and formed the Imperial tobacco company.
Three Castles remained one of the most
sought after tobaccos in the world until
1988 when Imperial with drew the brand.
IT'S BACK.
In 2005 HBI reintroduced the Three Castles
brand. However bringing back the tobacco
icon was not enough, a tobacco injector,
full and mild flavored tubes and filters
have been added to the Three Castles line,
promising to uphold the heritage and legacy
of the Three Castles for another century.
